George Alfred Leonard Moberg was born September 26, 1920 in Taylors Falls, Minnesota, to Alfred L. and Jennie M. (Shaw) Moberg. Raised on a farm near Taylors Falls, he was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, and graduated from Taylors Falls High School in 1938. After his education, he farmed near Taylors Falls, first with his father and then on his own.

He married Ordella Rugroden on March 20, 1942, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Dresser, Wisconsin. They lived in the area until 1948 when they sold their farm and moved to Fergus Falls. While living in Fergus Falls, George & Ordella farmed and George hauled freight for 6 years. In 1958 they started a coin operated laundry in Cannon Falls. A year later, they moved to Northfield and started laundries in Northfield and Farmington. George also worked as a plumber while operating the laundries. Along with his brother-in-law and business partner Arvid Rugroden, they opened another laundry in Lakeville in 1961. In Lakeville they had a car wash and dry cleaner that operated under the slogan "We run a clean business".

In 1977 George was involved in a serious tractor accident on Highway 19 by his home just west of town. After his recovery they sold all but the Cannon Falls store. In 1980 he sold that building to the Cannon Falls Bank and retired.

George was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a Gideon. He was a skilled woodworker, loved to go on fishing trips, and enjoyed playing games. He was a Christian man of integrity, with a great memory and strong competitive nature.
